Smallfoot

On a seemingly impossible building plot we envisioned a skinny skyscraper that would mark the neighbourhood of ‘Strijp-S’ in the skyline of Eindhoven. With a perimeter of 18 by 18 meters and a height of 170 meters, this would be the skinniest tower of Europe and an icon for the city of Eindhoven.

SLENDER

The structure contains 150 apartments with additional supporting functions in the adjacent buildings. Thanks to the extreme slenderness every apartment is a corner apartment with an amazing view. The façade consists of concaved shaped concrete panels and large windows. The repetition of these shapes creates a verticality that emphasizes the height of the tower. Moreover, Smallfoot’s features are a reference to the adjacent ‘Glass Building’ and the iconic Philips light tower in the centre of Eindhoven.

To construct the slender skyscraper we designed together with the structural engineer an innovative modular system that combines the inner and outer façade. The modular system creates an extremely stiff structure and is fast to build.
