Schiphol is renowned for its excellent public transport connections to all corners of the country. The railway station, located below Schiphol Plaza is one of the busiest in the Netherlands. It serves passengers arriving at and departing from the airport as well as those transferring to other trains or the regional buses, which have their stop in front of the terminal building. Due to passenger growth of Schiphol and the increasing amount of commuters, a new future-proof Multimodal Hub is designed.

As part of the MHS project, the bus station at the Jan Dellaertplein is redesigned, set to be completed in 2027. A new island platform, featuring 20 bus stops covered by a slim, green canopy, offers passengers a more safe and comfortable waiting area, providing protection from both rain and sun. The green sedum roof on the canopy also helps to reduce heat stress on the square. In addition to the large, central canopy, the existing glass canopies are being reused and replaced on the new bus island. This demonstrates the modular design's value by limiting material use and maintaining the distinctive identity of Jan Dellaertplein.

The newly designed space also updates lanes for taxis, buses to parking areas, and hotel shuttles, and includes direct connections to the railway station below. This integration allows travelers to seamlessly change between buses and trains, serving as a central hub where they can easily continue their journey to the terminals and offices within the Airport Business District. This new layout creates more space, better visibility of destinations, and clearer information on where buses are expected, while the direct link reduces congestion in the Plaza. Additionally, a new bicycle storage facility has been added with space for approximately 500 bikes.

The design of the public space in these areas aims to comfort passengers. Adding green enhances the passenger experience, while also having a positive impact on the management of rainwater and reducing heat on warm days. Large bowls of various sizes allow trees and plants to grow freely, without interfering with cables and pipelines below the surface. The edges of these bowls provide seating for passengers.
